About Us
Robert Pochin Limited has a long history of trading in the East Midlands having been founded in 1861 by Ironmonger Robert Pochin Snr and was subsequently developed by his son Robert and his four sons. The present Managing Director David Pochin is the sixth generation of the family to lead the business.
Through the second half of the 19th Century and first half of the 20th Century the shop at 32 Granby St became very well known for selling a very wide range of quality hardware and household products.
The development of markets for domestic cooking ranges, sanitary equipment and heating equipment led to the company selling directly to builders, plumbers and heating engineers. This became the basis of the modern day business after the closure of the Granby St premises and the extension of the St Georges Way site.
Uniquely the company is one of very few independant Aga cooker distributors in the UK who has maintained its status since its appointment in the early 1930's.
Today from its origins in Granby St the company trades as a leading independent plumbers merchant and bathroom retailer operating from seven sites across Leicestershire, Rutland and Nottingham.
In 2006 expansion plans included the opening of a 35,000 sq ft dedicated trade sales centre on the edge of Leicester at Murrayfield Road, as well as relocating its Loughborough branch to a new purpose unit and opening a new branch in Market Harborough.
The company continues to make plans for future expansion and development whilst at all time remaining true to its founding fathers philosophy of selling quality products with the highest levels of customer service.
